Being an aware, alert driver can start at any age, and can begin when you are a passenger!

Summer vacation can be a time for continued education for the entire family. When driving with your child, whether on a road trip or running errands, ask them to see what they say on the road. Ask them to point out people walking and rolling, intersections and animals they see. This helps you as the driver be more aware of your surroundings while driving, and helps your child practice being alert.

Instilling in your children the importance of being aware of all road users at a young age prepares them to be safe, friendly drivers. For older, driving aged children, consider having them take the Oregon Friendly Driver course as a part of their Driver Education training.
